Gongga Airport was renovated in 1993, more airplane like Boeing 747 are about to taking off and landing easier. With the construction of Bangda airport-the highest airport in the world in 1994, it is more easier to get to many cities and places in China and abroad. There are direct flights to Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing and even Kathmandu in Nepal. From Aug. 1995, people could get the air ticket from Chengdu to any city in China through internet in Lhsa.

Flights to Tibet With nearly 50 years of experience in flight, a visit to Tibet is the most popular way to enter Tibet. It is 2 hour trip from Chengdu and 4 hours from Beijing. It is an exciting experience if you have more than the extension of the Himalayan area.
There is an international flight to Tibet, Lhasa / Kathmandu Air China transported with 2 flights per week in winter and every day during the summer season. There are about 20 domestic air routes between Tibet with other cities within China. Five Chinese airlines flights, Tibet. They are Air China (www.airchina.com.cn), Sichuan Airlines (www.scal.com.cn), China Eastern Airlines (www.ce-air.com), China Southern Airlines (www.csair.com) China , Hainan Airlines (www.hnair.com) China and Shenzhen Airlines (www.shenzhenair.com), the flight to and from Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region are from Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Xi 'an, Chongqing , Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Diqing, Lanzhou.
Among these cities Chengdu is the most frequent city with more than 10 flights per day in summer and more than 5 flights per day in winter. Chengdu, with numerous tourists attractions, is the ideal starting point for Tibet. Chengdu, in May, is the best time to visit the giant pandas and historical sites with more than 3000 years in the course of history.
The lights to Tibet are Air Bus 319 and Boeing 757. The most aircraft have been prepared for the use of cold air, oxygen, the hard and complex geographic environments.
Apart from the airport of Lhasa Gong (3800), two other national airports, Nyingchi Airport (3000m) and the airport Chamdo (3240m) were also been built. Air China operate the flight from Chengdu and Nyingchi from the summer of 2006 . And there are also flights between Chengdu and Chamdo, the only airport in eastern Tibet.
